As the Disaster Recovery Specialist

BCLC is looking for an innovative Disaster Recovery Specialist to facilitate the development and implementation of integrated technology disaster recovery strategies and plans across the corporation. The successful candidate will execute on a best in class Disaster Recovery Roadmap.

 

Who you are….

You’re someone who has recent experience with best in class Disaster Recovery Plans. You’re a collaborator who can build relationships and trust effectively with business continuity and technology leaders alike. You have a good understanding of the latest DRP Technology and you keep up to date with advancements in the area of Disaster Recovery Planning especially regarding Cloud & Hybrid IT.

 

What you bring to the role….

  • Ability to collaborate with Business Technology Capability Managers and Business Units to develop and implement the DRP strategies and plans. Ensures DRP solutions are aligned with business strategic and operational objectives and align across all plans to form a cohesive strategy. Ensures that the plans are regularly updated and maintain readiness state. Proactively mitigates risk and resolves complex technical issues.
  • Identifies and recommends DRP opportunities and process improvements.
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in evaluating and selecting disaster recovery technologies and provides guidance and expertise to projects that have disaster recovery related risks associated with them.
  • Collaboration with Business Continuity management to ensure that the disaster recovery (crisis management) and business continuity plans are in alignment and support the disaster recovery (DR) strategy and procedures.
  • Demonstrates innovative thinking by regularly making recommendations for new approaches based on best practices, continual environment monitoring, root- cause analysis, tuning and capacity planning. Maintains knowledge of technology-focused DR professional practices and industry trends to continually develop and maintain a resilient DR plan.
  • Coordinates DR testing, including the scheduling, execution, monitoring and review of DR tests.
  • Represent disaster recovery cost requirements in the annual budgeting process, through ensuring business unit incorporate DRP costs into business planning cycle, and development of business cases for DRP related spending.
  • Regularly reports on DRP roadmap, results of DR tests, as well as initiatives and risks to Business Technology senior leadership.
  • Act as BT liaison for auditing and examination of disaster recovery processes.

 

 

What we are looking for in the role (Minimum Requirements)

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline such as information technology, supplemented by industry recognized professional courses
  • 4-6 years recent, related experience.
  • Understanding of current recovery solutions, high availability architectures and architectures is needed, as is knowledge of disaster recovery solutions.
  • Proven technical leader with solid system administration skills;
  • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in IT network/data center operations or similar background, with a working technical knowledge of current systems software, hardware and network standards at an architectural level
  • MBCP, CBCP, C/DRE or CBCM certification
  • Basic knowledge and application of IT DR and Information Security Professional Standards and Guidelines
  • An extensive background in successful DR services/implementations and large-scale DR testing event planning experience
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning software
  • Expertise in performing both risk and impact analyses
