Job Summary:

The objective of the Senior Data Analyst role is to manage and execute the delivery of professional technical services and solutions to the organization. This role is responsible for the development and implementation of Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and Business Intelligence (BI) software solutions. The Senior Data Analyst will proactively resolve complex technical issues and use innovative thinking in delivery of Data Warehouse solutions; including making recommendations for new approaches to technical work and issue resolution. 

 

The Senior Data Analyst role acts as a consultative partner by providing expertise, analysis and advice to internal stakeholders within BCLC, as well as external to the organization, in the areas of Data Warehousing and Data Management; to enable the business to provide products and services efficiently and effectively.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Produces Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions assets including: requirements review and translation, detailed technical specifications, input into overall architecture considerations, data modeling, development of required data warehouse & OLAP objects, enterprise data warehouse ETL and OLAP transformer data management development, lead consultation to QA activities, and implementation.
  • Ensures a stable analytics infrastructure by being a strong advocate and lead supporter of best practices and trends for the corporation’s analytics data assets, business intelligence capabilities, and technical platforms.
  • Provides input to overall data warehouse and business intelligence strategies.
  • Leads business unit and other IT personnel regarding data warehouse and business intelligence methods and tools.
  • Develops required project document artifacts and communicate to key stakeholders ensuring clarity and awareness of deliverables.
  • Builds operational and tactical relationships with other department personnel to gather and exchange ideas regarding data warehouse and business intelligence delivery and overall integrated processes.

 

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience

  • University degree in a relevant discipline or a two-year college diploma supplemented by industry recognized professional courses;
  • 3-5 years progressively responsible experience in a database/data warehouse development environment;
  • Kimball Design Methodology understanding and development experience considered a strong plus;
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

 

Technical Requirements

  • Demonstrated understanding of a broad Corporate Performance Management – Data Warehousing / Business Intelligence / Customer Relationship Management programs;
  • Strong data warehousing technical skills and abilities including: multi-dimensional modeling, data management procedure (ETL) development, complex report development, and project management;
  • Microsoft SQL Server database object development and data manipulation;
  • Experience developing software solutions using the IBM Cognos suite of Data Warehousing / ETL software offerings, such as Data Manager, Transformer, and Report Studio;
  • Experience developing ETL solutions using the IBM InfoSphere suite, including DataStage, QualityStage, and IGC;
  • Other relational database experience including Oracle, RDB, Informix considered a plus;
  • Technical skills utilizing Big Data / Data Lake systems such as Hadoop and related technologies is considered a plus;
  • Microsoft Windows systems, system administration, is an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking/innovation;
  • Exceptional time management and multi-tasking skills.
