In our recently completed fiscal year, BCLC generated a record $1.4 billion in net income to the Province of B.C. to support First Nations, host local governments, health care, education and community programs across the province.

 

The Team


Joining the People & Culture team at BCLC means you’ll be working with a trusted, passionate, hard working, employee focused team of professionals developing and implementing world class people & culture strategies, programs and practices across Talent Management, People Development, Organizational Change, Rewards, Recruitment and Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging. 


The Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (DI&B) team is responsible for fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can feel like they belong. They support our mandate for social purpose and indigenous reconciliation as well as our provincial mandates of antiracism and accessibility.

 

The Role


The DI&B Advisor is responsible for executing on our DI&B strategy based on four pillars: Inclusive Culture & Leadership, Employee Experience, Bias Free Systems & Processes and Community Engagement & Influence. You will be coming into an award winning function that is quite mature, well established yet still have the opportunity to influence and make yours with a leader (Manager, DI&B) and organization which are very receptive to new ideas and DI&B Initiatives.

 

What you will accomplish

  • You will assess our current state and proactively contribute your ideas to shape our roadmap
  • You will build partnerships with community organizations, employee resource groups, employees across BCLC at all levels and our Crowns DI&B Dialogue Network to share best practices
  • You will support our mandate for truth & reconciliation by partnering with our Indigenous Relations Manager as well as indigenous organizations and our Indigenous & Allies Employee Resource Group
  • You will effectively support our accessibility mandate by contributing to organizational plan with a cross functional team to make our organization barrier free, both physically and attitudinally
  • You will manage events throughout the year which will build employee awareness of lived experience of diverse groups, integrating learnings with structured leadership development programs at all levels

 

Qualifications and skills

  • University degree in Human Resources, Business, Social Sciences or in a related field
  • 3-5 years directly related diversity and inclusion experience in a work environment
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

  • You possess sound judgement, able to contribute to decision-making effectively and handle complex, sensitive matters efficiently and with empathy
  • You are a strong communicator, able to build relationships with diverse groups and write articles to be shared on our intranet for all employees,
  • You can effectively organize and manage events, both virtual and in person, including both internal and external stakeholders
  • You are a relationship builder, able to bring together various groups to achieve a common goal
  • You are a self starter, an advocate for your community, DI&B culture and freely share your lived and learned experiences to raise awareness and educate

 

It would be awesome if you also had

  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation supporting human rights, indigenous reconciliation, antiracism & accessibility
  • Knowledge of SAP
