Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Digital Enablement, the Enterprise Data Architect develops, defines and promotes the BCLC Enterprise Data Strategy Architecture, ensuring alignment with business strategies.   This role works closely with other BT Architects and the business units to develop roadmaps that align with business strategies and roadmaps, and to educate and disseminate complex architecture concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

 

This role works closely with the Enterprise Application Architect to develop a unified approach to applications and data, and will primarily focus on the areas of Analytics and Customer Relationship Management.

 

The Enterprise Data Architect accomplishes their mission through collaboration, influence, and demonstrated value to business units, Product Owners, and Product Teams, not via position or edict.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develops, defines and promotes the BCLC Enterprise Data Strategy (BEDS) Architecture, ensuring alignment with business strategies.  Collaborates closely with business units and Business Architecture to understand the corporate strategies, business strategies and business roadmaps.
  • Develops technical Enterprise Domain Roadmaps to align with BEDS and business strategies and roadmaps, collaborating with BT Architects and Product Teams where applicable. Provides support and advice to BT Architects and other technical resources to ensure alignment to overall Enterprise Architecture and the BEDS.
  • Communicates BEDS and complex architecture concepts to a range of non-technical stakeholders, including Executive and Senior Leadership, across the enterprise.
  • Develops and disseminates reference architectural models, principles, and standards to provide guidance to technical resources. Contributes to BCLC’s Enterprise Architecture Principles.
  • Collaborates with Data Owners to define strategies and lifecycle plans for their Data.
  • Collaborates with the Enterprise Application Architect, Enterprise Technology Architect, and BT Architects to ensure alignment of Domain Strategies and Enterprise Domain Roadmaps.
  • Researches and contributes to best practices through market research and analysis on technology providers and emerging technologies to recommend solutions and opportunities to business and technology stakeholders.
  • Contributes expertise, standards, and policy to the Data Governance practice
  • Leads the Data Architecture Community of Excellence
  • Contributes to the Emerging Technology Community of Practice

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • This position requires a post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems;
  • Five to seven years’ experience in related role with a demonstrated delivery of strategies, roadmaps, standards, policy, and architecture;
  • TOGAF or other architectural framework certification or experience is an asset;
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

 

Technical Requirements

  • Strong communication skills, including written, oral, and presentation skills;
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders, both internal and external;
  • Ability to work highly independently and provide leadership through new and ambiguous situations;
  • Experience with analyzing, designing, and implementing scalable, highly available systems for backend and customer facing, real-time transaction processing;
  • Advanced understanding of a platform approach to enable business flexibility;
  • Advanced understanding of integration platforms and technology, including Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Microservice Architecture, and API best practices;
  • Strong understanding of designing for cyber security, privacy, and regulations;
  • Strong understanding of Master Data Management, Data Quality, Data Governance
  • Detailed knowledge of architecture and software modeling tools;
  • Broad knowledge of modern technology, applications, frameworks, and toolsets, such as RESTful Web Services, Qlik Sense, Hadoop, Spark, Cognos, AI/cognitive, etc.;
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills;
  • Good understanding of Change Management concepts and strategies.
  • Experience working in agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) or providing architectural support to agile teams is an asset
