Job Summary:
The Senior Automation Analyst identifies and mitigates risks associated with moving software and underlying infrastructure into production; identifies and capitalizes on automation opportunities with the aim of reducing manual intervention. The role acts as a trusted advisor by providing leadership, expertise, analysis and advice to internal and external stakeholders to enable the business to provide technical products and services efficiently and effectively.  


Key Accountabilities:
•    Maintains existing automation scripts to support changes.
•    Executes existing automation against current projects and providing status reports on the results.
•    Proactively identifies automation opportunities and drives the implementation of these optimization opportunities.
•    Lead performance test initiatives through exploration, development, execution and analysis.
•    Proactively seeks out issue resolution by consulting with developers, vendors and project managers.
•    Mentors and develops junior team members.
•    Continuously improves our shared processes and tool use and actively cooperates in cross-departmental workgroups.
•    Contributes to Cloud initiatives and projects through providing recommendations and input from an Automation perspective.
•    Drives DevOps practices with multiple BT teams with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.


Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience

•    University degree in a relevant discipline or a two-year college diploma supplemented by industry recognized professional courses; 
•    3-5 years progressively responsible experience in an automation or software development environment, with at least three years at a senior level;
•    Experience in Information Systems: design, development, support and management;
•    An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.


Technical Requirements
•    Excellent interpersonal skills;
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
•    Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking/innovation;
•    Exceptional time management and multi-tasking skills;
•    Software integration experience; 
•    Vendor management experience;
•    Demonstrated experience in business and process analysis and improvement;
•    Object-oriented programming methodologies; 
•    Understanding of B.C. gaming industry is an asset;
•    Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration;
•    Experience with automation/configuration management using either Ansible, Puppet, Chef or an equivalent;
•    Strong understanding of CI/CD toolsets (strong knowledge of Jenkins a bonus);
•    Strong understanding of source code and artifact management and repositories;
•    Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (AWS and Azure a bonus);
•    Experience with MS SQL or NoSQL;
•    A working understanding of code and script (Groovy, Javascript, Python, YAML);
•    Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
•    Understanding of Agile methodologies a plus;
•    Strong understanding of SDLC and release management;
•    Understanding of Maven and MSBuild;
•    Understanding of containers, APM, performance or load testing.
