Job Summary:

 

The objective of the Senior Programmer Analyst role is to deliver professional technical services and solutions to the organization. This role will work within a dedicated Agile team to proactively resolve complex technical issues and use innovative thinking by making recommendations for new approaches to technical work and broader issues resolution. The Senior Programmer Analyst role acts as a consultative partner by providing expertise, analysis and advice to internal stakeholders within BCLC, as well as external to the organization to enable the business to provide technical products and services efficiently and effectively.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Develop application solution assets including: requirements review and translation, detailed technical specifications, software solutions design, development of required software objects, lead consultation to QA activities, and implementation.
  • Develop required project document artifacts and communicate to key stakeholders ensuring clarity and awareness of deliverables.
  • Ensure a stable application infrastructure and overall software lifecycle by being a strong advocate and lead supporter of best practices and trends for the corporation’s software solution asset and technical platform.
  • Collaborates with Product Owners and other IT personnel to integrate new requirements into software solutions.

 

  • Collaborates with peers to resolve technical issues and makes regular suggestions for new approaches to technical work and broader issues resolution.

 

  • Conducts needs assessments with Product Owners to translate these needs into results for services and solutions delivered by BCLC.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience

  • University degree in a relevant discipline or a two-year college diploma supplemented by industry recognized professional courses
  • Minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in a programming/analysis environment, with at least three years at a programmer/analyst level
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered

 

Technical Requirements

  • Experience developing software solutions using JAVA, REST, SOAP, SQL Server, Microsoft .NET, C#, ASP, HTML, and JavaScript
  • Experience with development on multiple Operating Systems: Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Microsoft Windows
  • Experience with Elasticsearch or other time series database technologies
  • Proficient in software development methodologies; Agile, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
  • Proficient with development environments; Eclipse, Visual Studio, Business Works
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking/innovation
  • Strong computer skills – MS office suite
  • Exceptional time management
