Job Summary:
The Senior Systems Administrator (Shift) ensures the continuous operations of IT services. 


Working 12hr shifts (days and nights), DCO admins are expected to have a thorough working knowledge and experience with all computer systems within BCLC’s computer facilities, ensuring that these systems are operated and maintained at maximum efficiency and availability.   

 

The DCO admins provide proactive monitoring of all production systems 24/7/365. Constantly evaluating alerting trends, the admin looks to identify threats to production availability using APM and other monitoring software. 

 

The Senior System administrator coordinates all facets of incident response. The role delivers professional/technical solutions and services that ensure integrity, availability, scalability, and manageability of all BCLC IT systems. The Senior Systems Administrator (Shift) assists with the analysis of infrastructure, network and application incidents, applying documented solutions, incident communication, and escalation as necessary.

 

Key Accountabilities:
•    Using APM and other monitoring software, the DCO admin proactively monitors all systems, on premise, in the cloud, or at remote sites. The admin identifies trends and potential problems, attempting to resolve them before they impact the production environment.
•    The DCO admin is responsible for configuration and maintenance of DCO specific tool sets to provide operational insights for DCO and other stakeholders. 

•    The DCO admin is responsible for Incident coordination, communications, and escalation. Resolving technical issues that may impact production systems. Understanding risks and impacts to the business to ensure appropriate communication, escalation and incident resolution in a timely fashion.
•    Provides core systems operational functions as required on all production systems on a 24/7/365 basis. The DCO admin provides IMAC infrastructure services to other BT groups including “Remote Hands and Eyes” services to support infrastructure trouble shooting.
•    Participates in evaluation / development and implementation of new technologies and processes to ensure the Data Centre is providing value to the business. Focusing on continual improvement practices and makes recommendations to streamline existing processes, reduce risk, and eliminate manual effort through automation of operational tasks.
•    Acts as a generalist across a wide range of IT competencies, completes ongoing training, and imparts knowledge to others. Maintains a solid understanding of production applications, services, and infrastructure. Supports Service Desk calls out of hours.
•    Develops and maintains working relationships with various internal stakeholders, vendors/suppliers, service provider and regulatory bodies.


Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience

•    3-5 years related IT experience; supported by a diploma level certification in a computer-related field; 
•    Relevant IT certifications, and experience in automation scripting.  (i.e. Jenkins, Ansible, MCSA, CCNA, CISSP, AWS cloud) on Windows, and Linux platforms are an asset;
•    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Technical Requirements
•    Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting ability;
•    Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills;
•    Strong understanding of the ITIL framework and principles;
•    Knowledge of Enterprise Data Centre Operations and Best Practices;
•    Excellent time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills;
•    Strong understanding of network and systems management and security;
•    Demonstrated experience with the following will be considered an asset:   ServiceNow, APM Solarwinds, Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Windows, RedHat Linux, operating systems; VMware ESX, AWS cloud operations, CommVault, ITIL, Scripting / orchestration. 
•    Understanding of B.C. gaming industry is an asset.

 

Working Conditions:
•    Shift work, including, days, nights, weekends and holidays is required; 
•    Must be able to work flexible hours and provide after-hours support as needed.
•    Must be physically able to install and decommission IT equipment
