The Team


Joining the People and Culture (P&C) team at BCLC means you'll be working with a group of People and Culture professionals trusted to maintain an employee focus by developing and implementing strategies and practices across the areas of People Recruitment, People Operations, People Development, People Rewards and Wellness, People Systems, Workforce Planning and Corporate Strategy.


Our People Operations team drives the employee experience at BCLC. We advise our people through life and career events, moments that matter, ensure People & Culture programs are executed consistently across our business, and deliver leadership and people skills training in person and virtual settings. 


The Role


The role of People and Culture Advisor is an HR generalist role that is instrumental in supporting business leaders in BCLC’s Social Purpose and Marketing, Enterprise Risk Management and Audit teams with ongoing business needs while delivering an outstanding employee experience. Reporting to the Manager, People Operations, the PCA will actively collaborate with other P&C teams, Enterprise Risk Management, Audit, Compliance, external General Counsel and more as part of a shared services model to determine appropriate course of action and provide closure to people issues. The People and Culture Advisor will demonstrate a high level of expertise by confidently supporting leaders and employees throsupport leaders and employees through queries of policy & process, performance management, employee relations, disability management and other areas of the employee lifecycle.

 

 

Requirements

  • 3-5 years progressive experience in the field of Human Resources, or a related discipline
  • University degree in a relevant discipline OR a two-year college diploma supplemented by industry recognized professional courses
  • Sound working knowledge of applicable legislation, such as Human Rights and Employment Standards 
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered


What you will accomplish

  • Advise and coach leaders and employees on difficult conversations in moments that matter
  • Provide advice and counsel on performance management, facilitating discussions to address gaps, assess appropriate action, coach leaders on effective feedback delivery, improving performance and facilitating the performance management program
  • Conduct investigations independently, recommending interventions to address workplace concerns & de-escalate conflict, creating customized workplace restoration strategies to provide lasting resolution, setting clear objectives, and following up while ensuring employees feel heard
  • Respond to complex questions about P&C policy/process and employment law, supporting leaders in applying policies to high-risk situations and recommending changes to policy & process to ensure best in class practices 
  • Provide disability management support including gradual return to work plans and accommodations 
  • Make recommendations for P&C program continuous improvement, independently or in project teams that are innovative, best in class and aligned with delivering outstanding employment experience

  • You have broad knowledge and experience across many areas of human resources including a solid understanding of applicable legislation and case law


It would be awesome if you also had

  • CPHR Designation
  • High degree of resiliency and perseverance
  • Previous experience working with HR Information management systems such as SAP/SuccessFactors
  • Have experience working in Public Sector
