JOB SUMMARY
The Data Scientist collects, analyzes, interprets, and visualizes data sets to provide data-driven solutions to business challenges and objectives. The Data Scientist uses mathematical, statistical and Artificial Intelligence platforms and techniques to develop custom data models, visualizations, and algorithms to build data products that support organizational strategies.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Acts as a subject matter expert, (or technical lead) in data wrangling and data science, conducting advanced statistical and other machine learning/artificial intelligence (ML/AI) analyses to provide actionable insights, identify trends, and measure performance.
  • Identifies iterative opportunities within the teams’ capabilities and translates business and technical requirements into advanced analytics solutions.
  • Ensures the successful development, quality assurance, implementation, orchestration and ongoing support of advanced analytics solutions.
  • Creates, documents, and communicates advanced analytics solutions using standard documentation processes, ensuring adherence to technical guidelines and standards while fostering broader understanding across the organization.
  • Helps develop and implement practices and processes to ensure the formal management of data assets.
  • Resolves complex issues and makes recommendations for innovative approaches to technical work and broader issues resolution.
  • Cultivates and enhances core competencies within the team by conducting learning sessions, training, fostering effective communication, and exemplifying expected behaviors.  Leads and participates in technology centers of excellence (COE) and/or communities of practice (COP) for data science.
  • Maintains the overall model suite in accordance with best practices and established regulatory and internal guidelines.
  • Partners with diverse stakeholders including Product Owners, Capability Managers, Enterprise Architects, business stakeholders, as well as a broad range of technical and business subject matter experts including external vendors and consultants.
     

QUALIFICATIONS
A combination of education, experience, and demonstrated skills may be considered.
 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline, such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science and/or Statistics;
  • 4 to 6 years of progressively responsible technical experience with at least three years' experience in the data science lifecycle, pipelines, data ingestion, data manipulation, data security, data quality and processes.

 

KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Experience with SQL, Python;
  • Advanced knowledge of ML/AI techniques and when to use them, including but not limited to, regression analysis, Bayesian statistics, clustering and classification models using supervised and unsupervised techniques;
  • Experienced with cloud-based data warehousing and data management technologies, such as S3, Snowflake, Matillion, etc.;
  • Experienced with cloud based advanced analytics platforms like Dataiku;
  • Experience with prompt engineering and training LLM and RAG models
  • Advanced technical writing skills, and able to write reports and document procedures.

  • Advanced demonstration of being able to work in a fast-paced, multi-level, project-based environment with emphasis on timelines and delivery.

Preferred qualifications may include:

  • Understanding of Agile methodology or experience working with a cross-functional team environment would be an asset;
