Expected Salary Range: $62,081.00 - $77,600.00 - $96,999.00

Job Summary:
The Payroll Administrator processes and reviews payroll; prepares and reviews data related to annual reporting requirements; files statutory and other payroll related deductions, for preparing payroll related accounting transactions, reconciliations, and related analysis, and for documenting and updating procedures. In addition, this role assists in determining and implementing preventative control measures and solutions, identifies and recommendations process improvements related to daily operating activities; performs systems testing, maintains payroll related records (physical and electronic) and acts as a consultative partner for BCLC.
Key Accountabilities:
- Processes and reviews payroll within the parameters of established internal controls, including recording, processing and reviewing payroll related data.
- Prepares journal entries, account reconciliations, and payroll related reports, and documents or updates procedures as required.
- Prepares data related to annual reporting requirements, including but not limited to, T4s, T2200s, PSEC and the Financial Information Act.
- Files statutory and other payroll related deductions in a timely manner.
- Participates in the determination and implementation of preventative control measures and solutions, and assists in the identification and recommendations for process improvements related to daily operating activities.
- Conducts system testing, and maintains payroll related records (physical and electronic).
- Acts as a consultative partner by providing regular input and resolving routine issues for internal and external stakeholders to BCLC to enable efficient and effective delivery on business initiatives.
- Makes suggestions for new approaches, demonstrates creativity in developing innovative ways of completing work and solving issues and continuously improves processes and procedures within the department. Regularly participates in interdepartmental projects and assists in the incorporation of new products, systems, policy and reporting as required.
- Resolves payroll issues through research and analytics and develops new ideas options for issues resolution to others.
- Develops and maintains working relationships with internal contacts, such as employees, cross functional team members, and supervisors/managers, to provide input, clarify timelines and expectations and seek assistance as required.
- Maintains competence in payroll knowledge, and provides formal training and advice in order to share knowledge.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- A post- secondary certificate or diploma in a payroll or related Finance field;
- 3 to 5 years of recent, related experience;
- Membership in Canadian Payroll Association;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Technical Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills;
- Good working knowledge of corporate financial systems and of payroll procedures and best practices;
- Strong knowledge of payroll related reporting requirements;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present comprehensive information in an easily understood manner;
- Ability to work independently and as a team member;
- Strong time management and multi-tasking skills;
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work within established deadlines and time constraints;
- Ability to act on own initiative and ability to identify and act on issues and problems in own area of responsibility;
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail;
- Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking/innovation skills;
- Strong computer skills – MS office suite.
