For this position you can work out of the Vancouver office, Kamloops office, or remote from anywhere in B.C.

 

Job Summary:


The Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Management Services is accountable for administering the strategic risk management program, which involves integrating risk considerations into the organization's strategy and business planning processes. This includes identifying potential risks that could impede the successful delivery of the strategic plan. The Senior Manager plays a key role in establishing risk limits and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to monitor and manage these risks effectively. They provide expert advice to senior leadership, offer senior-level guidance to the ERMS team, and oversee the evaluation and monitoring of both operational and strategic risks. Additionally, the Senior Manager may attend Executive and Board meetings alongside the Director or as a delegate, as required.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manages all complex, high profile, high-risk initiatives including Executive Management and Board requests as assigned and risk assessments including quality assurance and strategic review of final deliverables, reports and presentations with tight timelines and high level of scrutiny.
  • Provides direction to the team for all new and changing areas of the corporate strategy to ensure awareness and implements changes to provide continued organization alignment and support.  
  • Provides proactive and expert strategic-level risk advisory and consultancy services and business acumen around significant transformation and change initiatives as well as ongoing operational activities. 
  • Oversees the planning, execution, and reporting of all ERMS assessments to ensure execution in accordance with established standards and timelines, and focus alignment with Director and Board level expectations. Ensures the appropriate allocation of ERMS resources/skills to high-profile ERMS consulting engagements.  
  • Supports the design, development, and execution of the overall corporate ERMS strategy, framework, master plan and policy, and accountable to support the development and delivery of a comprehensive annual plan. 
  • Develops, fosters, and maintains strong relationships with senior leadership.  Generates trust and understanding between stakeholders and ERMS to position the team as an independent and trusted advisor. Promotes a strong risk culture of integrity, transparency, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Represents ERMS in Executive meetings as well as Strategy Committee, Board of Directors, Interprovincial Lottery Corporation Sub-Risk Committee. Acts as delegate for Director, as required.  
  • Provides expert advice to senior leadership and Executive management across the organization relating to assessing risk, completing independent/objective evaluations of risk and processes, and recommending improvements to the associated controls or business proposal considered.  
  • Develops and implements internal accountability framework and internal tracking systems for key performance indicators at staff and management level. 

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience

  • University degree in business, finance, law, or a related discipline.
  • One or more risk management qualifications, such as Canadian Risk Management (CRM), RIMS Fellow (FR) designations, Canadian Accredited Insurance Broader (CAIB) and/or an accounting designation is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of related experience in progressively responsible positions such as risk, business continuity, insurance, legal, audit, finance, or a related field. Management, leadership and Risk/Audit Committee and Board experience would be considered an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
     

Technical Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully, lead, motivate and manage a diverse team towards strategic goals of an enterprise risk management function.
  • Strong knowledge of financial and managerial control systems and processes.  
  • Proven ability to successfully contribute to complex initiatives, projects and teams across a variety of different business areas.
  • Ability to develop effective and collaborative relationships with organizational leaders, the Executive Team, and the Risk Committee, that demonstrate professionalism and independence.
  • Progressive, forward-looking, risk-based approach with a willingness to fully embrace leading-edge practices.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues using well developed discretion and judgment; 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver sensitive information tactfully and professionally.
  • Ability to find innovative yet practical ways to achieve goals, and link several strategies into a unified, future-focused plan.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Strong business acumen with a results-oriented focus; a track record of successful management experience in a fast-paced high-growth business environment.
  • Excellent ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise risk management principles, frameworks, and guidelines (e.g., ISO31000).
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic business planning and resource management in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of project management and demonstrated ability to successfully lead, motivate and manage diverse groups when facilitating highly complex risk processes.
  • Strong knowledge of gaming industry and gaming policies.
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies such as PSEC, GPEB and FinTRAC.
