JOB SUMMARY

 

The Senior Specialist, eCommerce Payments plays a meaningful role in shaping and executing BCLC’s payment strategy and improving upon processes that enable positive player experience and operational efficiency, contributing to BCLC revenue objectives.
The Senior Specialist, eCommerce Payments manages payment systems, optimizes transaction flows, and ensures compliance with financial regulations. This role is crucial for ensuring seamless, secure, and efficient financial transactions for iGaming platforms. This role involves managing the end-to-end lifecycle of digital transactions—from deposits and withdrawals to fraud detection and reconciliation—while collaborating across teams to optimize payment systems and drive customer satisfaction.

  • Develops, plans, and guides the payment roadmap to meet business requirements and deliver expected outputs by defining new initiatives and improvements on current offerings.
  • Coordinates information across multiple teams, within iGaming and throughout the organization, for planning purposes. Works with Product and Technology teams to implement payment system upgrades and integrations.
  • Oversees and optimizes payment methods and platforms. Evaluates and recommends new payment technologies and providers to enhance platform capabilities.
  • Provides valuable feedback to leadership, helping develop, refine, and evolve the payment strategy over time. Works with stakeholders and industry partners to identify an execution strategy for payment optimization for PlayNow and takes the lead in communication and implementation of that strategy.
  • Works closely with UX, Enterprise Risk, product teams, finance, and brand teams to align payment operations with broader business goals, thereby supporting strategic initiatives like launching new payment methods or entering new markets.
  • Develops and manages the relationship with payment providers to ensure smooth integration and resolution of issues.
  • Analyzes and monitors key performance metrics (KPIs) like acceptance rates, transaction times, error rates and fraud detection, and uses that information to drive performance improvements and fine tune the Payments strategy.
  • Oversees day-to-day activities for all eCommerce related transactions on PlayNow, including resolving discrepancies and investigating failed transactions, PayPal disputes, web cash inquiries, chargebacks, or mismatched records. Handles player transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, and redemptions.
  • Performs testing and QA on payment methods and systems. Investigates and addresses PaySafe test account concerns; manages API keys, HMAC keys, MIDs etc. for test environments.
  • Follows up with PaySafe when an issue with test processing is identified.
  • Supports compliance efforts by identifying and implementing solutions that minimize opportunity for payment related fraud. Assists in fraud detection and prevention by analyzing transaction patterns and flagging suspicious activity. Ensures compliance with AML, PCI-DSS, and other regulatory standards.
  • Stays informed of new technologies and/or best practices. Uses this knowledge to influence department’s strategic initiatives.
  • Acts as delegate for their leader as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

A combination of education, experience, and demonstrated skills may be considered.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in in a related discipline such as business, ecommerce or information technology;=
  • 4 to 6 years of current progressive experience in online or facility gaming.

 

KNOWLEDGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS 

 

  • Advanced knowledge on ecommerce payments and payment methods (all digital channels, including mobile and web);
  • Advanced knowledge of principles, concepts, practices, techniques and tools in the areas of product management, eCommerce, and the gaming industry;
  • Knowledge of online payment methods (Visa / MC / Interac / PSPs);
  • Knowledge of payment platforms;
  • Understanding of compliance regulations, fraud detection tools and compliance frameworks (AML, KYC, PCI-DSS);
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze business and technical issues and develop solutions;
  • Excellent creative problem solving and innovative analytical thinking;
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Preferred qualifications may include:

 

  • Casino and iGaming knowledge preferred;
  • Understanding of Agile methodology or experience working with a cross-functional team environment would be an asset;
  • Understanding of B.C. gaming industry would be an asset.
