Job Summary:
The Data Quality Analyst understands the strategic advantage of governed data, the importance of ensuring Master Data Management (MDM) practices are supported; while actively defining methods of measuring, monitoring, and communicating its quality. This role actively works with our Data Management and Data Governance practice areas, has a clear understanding of overall enterprise data quality, ensures data governance principles are applied across all business domains, and ensures the MDM backlog is addressed in timely manner. 


In addition to proactively monitoring MDM and supporting BCLC’s Data Management and Data Governance practices, the DQA is responsible for the execution of data quality routines, measuring, analyzing, executing, tracking, and reporting on data quality issues. The DQA will interact with all business users to promote data governance practices, improve data understanding and lineage, resolve data quality problems, and ultimately enable better decision-making.


Key Accountabilities:
•    Provides communication to key stakeholders, ensuring clarity and awareness of priorities, strategies and objectives for Data Management, Data Quality, and Data Governance practices.
•    Collaborates with stakeholders across the enterprise, clearly articulating data definitions, mappings, and data governance requirements based on the business priorities needs. Works closely with Data Governance Office in establishing enterprise-wide data standards.

•    Defines and manages the business data rules, standards and governance as well as enhancing data assets. Lead the documentation and definition of data standards for common understanding and monitors adherence to data quality standards. Manages business glossary on data definitions.
•    Acts as a guardian to ensure the data across the enterprise is accurate and works with our internal business technology teams to make amendments when required. Provides data quality training and presentations to external clients and internal teams.
•    Conducts ongoing monitoring and administration of Master Data Management task backlog. Evaluates records requiring manual review in order to link player records across various source systems including:

  • Providing input to MDM stakeholders for optimization opportunities of MDM system;
  • Unlinking players previously linked in error;
  • Support the reporting of the overall health of BCLC’s MDM system (backlog status, resolution stats, trends, patterns, etc.).

•    Tracks, Monitors, and reports on data quality assurance / production performance metrics.  Provides continuous review of data processes at source system level that are causing data quality issues. Escalates the resolution of all internal data exceptions in timely and accurate manner.

•    Analyzes, queries, and evaluates data and datasets according to defined business rules and procedures;
•    Identifies, compares, and provides insight into root causes of data quality problems, determines business impact, and provides recommendations and solutions, including process improvement recommendations.
•    Documents the DQAs contribution to other projects and participate in cross-functional teams.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience
•    A degree in a business/commerce discipline, such as business analytics or economics; 
•    3-5 years related experience with a minimum of 1 year related experience in data management practices with progressive levels of responsibility; 
•    An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

Technical Requirements
•    In-depth understanding of data within one or more of the following business domains: Marketing, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain Management.
•    Expertise in working with relational and multi-dimensional databases, applications, and complex data.
•    Ability to develop SQL Statements to profile and monitor data quality, data profiling, data discovery.
•    Excellent analytical ability and well developed creative problem solving skills.
•    Expertise in conducting root-cause analysis.
•    Advanced communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to explain complex information in an effective manner.
•    Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
•    Excellent time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills.
•    Strong interpersonal skills and leadership experience.
