Expected Salary Range: $87,530.00 - $109,414.00 - $136,768.00

We operate national and provincial lotteries in partnership with 3500 retail partners, provide the games, technology & oversight to 37 brick & mortar casinos, and operate a safe secure and 100% legal online gambling presence PlayNow.com. In our recently completed fiscal year, BCLC generated a record $1.4 billion in net income to the Province of B.C. to support First Nations, host local governments, health care, education and community programs across the province.
Job Summary
The Product Manager 1 delivers products that create expected and definable value for customers, and operate within the planned operating cost, capacity, and support models. They are the voice of the user, translating business and user needs into product requirements.
The Product Manager 1 is responsible for defining and leading the vision and execution of retail digital signage and media network, which delivers digital content and experiences across BCLC’s retail environment. This includes managing the product roadmap and lifecycle, optimizing the digital experience across the retail network and identifying opportunities to enhance customer, retailer and business value.
Key Accountabilities
- With the guidance of their manager, creates and shares the product vision, roadmap. Leading the product through its lifecycle based on customer needs, market problems to solve and business objectives.
- Presents and shares a product vision to stakeholders and builds key cross-functional working relationships to deliver long-term success of the solution. With support of the manager, rallies people and resources to turn that vision into a reality.
- Collects, tracks, prioritizes lifecycle and product improvements. Understands where the product sits in its lifecycle including deciding when it is appropriate for sunsetting. With guidance determines timing for sunsetting, transitioning the product to end-of-life, replacing, or discontinuing.
- With guidance from their manager, aligns their products and delivery to the corporate strategy; including identifying product outcome gaps their product is best suited to fill.
- Reports to their managers and other stakeholders, including other product teams on the progress and status of product team deliverables. Proactively identifies risks and opportunities and works with stakeholders and leadership as needed to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- With the guidance of their manager, leads and manages the vendor relationship where there is a vendor for the product.
- Works with stakeholders defining key user journeys, product Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to maximize business performance while minimizing internal operating costs.
- Prepares key deliverables such as documentation with clear requirements for appropriate teams and regulatory facing documents.
- Presents ideas and strategies to the leadership team to socialize acceptance, garner feedback, and adjust product strategies where needed.
- Supports and guides cross-functional teams by helping them understand the product strategy and proactively resolve complex challenges by encouraging new approaches for more effective delivery of products and enhancements.
Qualifications
- A combination of education, experience, and demonstrated skills may be considered.
Education & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology Management, or a related discipline;
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience;
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies.
Knowledge & Technical Skills
- Strong in agile methodologies and tools;
- Understanding of and exposure to Vendor Management;
- Knowledge of retail technology, digital signage, and/or digital media networks;
- Understanding of data analytics, product performance metrics, and KPI development;
- Advanced technical writing skills, and able to write reports and document procedures;
- Advanced strategic thinking skills to create processes that improve every aspect of product development;
- Advanced demonstration of research skills to determine what consumers look for in a product. They also research their competitors and market trends to ensure the products’ success;
- Demonstrates ability to effectively identify potential risk factors and work to prevent these factors from coming to fruition during a product's development;
- Expert user of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

- Advanced business acumen;
- Advanced communication and presentation skills, and able to interpret and translate ambiguous situations into structured and clearly defined deliverables. Able to translate technical concepts for non-technical users;
- Advanced interpersonal skills and able to collaborate effectively with a proactive attitude towards understanding;
- Demonstrated ability to conduct problem-solving and conflict resolution, with the ability to navigate complex organizational challenges and foster a culture of collaboration and trust;
- Advanced demonstration of team leadership skills including the ability to act as a change agent to champion continuous change and improvement;
- Advanced time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities.
Preferred qualifications may include:
- Product Management certifications such as Pragmatic Marketing, Agile and or Scrum are an asset;
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO);
- PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) is an asset;
- Understanding of B.C. gaming industry would be an asset;
- Experience with retail media networks, or digital signage would be an asset;
