Overview:
BCLC’s two offices are located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Peoples in Vancouver and the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc territory, situated within the Secwépemc Nation in Kamloops. Our Operations Division manages both provincial & national lottery games as well as instant lotteries through over 3000 retail partners across the province. We provide the gaming technology and set standards, policies & procedures across 37 casino properties in BC, ensuring a high standard of security and integrity.
We also provide online gambling through Playnow.com and our Lotto app including lottery, sports betting, Bingo, Keno, online slots or online casino games and Live Dealer table games where players can choose the online version of their favorite games while connecting with others across the province. Our Operations group is what makes it all happen, through day to day operations, project improvements, sales management, facilities, business intelligence and innovation.

Job Summary:
The objective of the Product Specialist, Instant Games is to oversee a variety of Scratch & Win games from concept development to launch and to manage a portfolio of products and to plan and execute product plans. This role acts as a subject matter expert in player experiences and utilizes best practices as well as knowledge of target market to develop products that resonate within the marketplace. The Product Specialist, Instant Games will act as a brand ambassador for the Instant category when promoting BCLC’s entertainment experience to players, stakeholders and the public as well as acting as an internal resource and liaison within the organization.
Accountabilities:
- Develops and implements new products and/or product enhancements while interpreting and applying corporate standards, policies and procedures in order to generate positive public support of BCLC products and services.
- Develops diverse, complex and specialized product plans and programs to support the product category.
- Proactively and reactively provides solutions to issues or identifies opportunities and enhancements to game design by using innovative and analytical thinking while continually researching trends and best practices that apply to developing innovative and appealing approaches.
- Works collaboratively with Channel to develop Retailer Information Sheets (RIS) to communicate and highlight product releases.
- Works collaboratively with Channel to develop Sell Sheets for Inside Sales.
- Works collaboratively with Marketing to develop marketing plans to support the category product strategy.
- Contributes to the development of the Instant Planogram.
- Provides input into strategic business plans and assists in forecasting financial resource and operational needs for expenditures and budgeting within the department.
- Proactively builds, develops, maintains and manages strong working relationships with various internal departments, in addition to various suppliers, community, regulatory and government bodies, to ensure successful execution of Instant Category product plans.
- Seeks opportunities to continuously develop through ongoing training and provides significant knowledge transfer to other members of the team and cross functionally.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- A degree or diploma in a marketing or business discipline;
- 3 - 5 years current, related experience within a marketing or product development environment;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Technical Requirements
- Sound knowledge of principles, concepts, practices in the area of product management;
- Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of strategic marketing plans;
- Knowledge of consumer goods and retail practices is an asset;
- Excellent understanding of quantitative analysis and ability to make recommendations based on analysis;
- Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics;
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and with close attention to detail;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking/innovation;
- Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite, Adobe, web-based programs);
- Exceptional time management and multi-tasking skills;
- Understanding of B.C. gaming industry is an asset.
