Job Summary:

The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) is a key partner in supporting BCLC's strategic decision making. As a member of the Financial Planning and Analysis team, this individual will play a critical role in aligning the company’s operations and initiatives through data driven, analysis-based recommendations that support the strategic goals of the business units and the corporation. This role also leads ongoing analysis of the financial performance for all business units and support groups, including analyzing trends in revenue, prizes, compensation, costs, viability and profitability. 

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Supports the business units throughout the entire business case life cycle, including guiding the business units through business case process, developing financial analysis, feasibility studies, option identification for business opportunities identified, and ensuring proposed initiatives and analyses are aligned with corporate objectives and priorities.

     

  • As a financial subject-matter expert, provides financial analysis and analytical support to facilitate stronger business decisions based on sound documented evidence, which includes research and analysis, development of advanced financial models, assessing market opportunities, identification of options, and making recommendations.

     

  • Develops in-depth knowledge of industry & company performance, drivers and projections, across all segments, channels and categories.

     

  • Develops ad-hoc financial analyses, and presents findings and actionable insights to the senior leadership team.

     

  • Fosters and facilitates working relationships between all finance areas and the business units.

     

  • Supports the annual planning process and quarterly forecast process, coordinating activities across the broader finance teams and business units to develop targets and clearly understand assumptions.

     

  • Responds to financial information requests and concerns, interprets and develops policy, and assists in the development of solutions to common business challenges while maintaining a strong finance governance framework.

     

  • Reviews, analyzes and assesses individual Service Provider financial performance and financial position on an ongoing basis.  Produces related quarterly reports for Audit Committee of Board of Directors.

        

     

    Minimum Required Qualifications

    Education and Experience

  • University degree in a related discipline; plus an accredited professional accounting designation;
  • 4 to 6 years experience in FP&A, decision support, or management reporting, with experience in business modeling and analysis;
  • Strong experience in financial analysis, financial modeling and business case preparation;.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

 

Technical Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and strategically, build consensus, anticipate problems and solutions;
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate through ambiguity, managing multiple priorities, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced evolving environment;
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation and facilitation), interpersonal skills and ability to articulate findings and insights to all levels of audience;
  • Exceptional professional judgment with experience in exercising it effectively in the decision making process;
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to be self-motivated, work independently, as well as being part of a team;
  • Highly developed financial modeling skills. Excellent knowledge and understanding of quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; Strong understanding of statistical analysis and analytical concepts.
  • Experience writing and delivering presentations to senior executives;
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and ability to apply them in a practical way;
  • Strong computer skills - MS office suite, with advanced Excel skills;
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Data Warehouse and/or understanding of B.C. gaming industry and/or gaming operational systems an asset;
  • MBA is an asset.
