Job Summary:


The Senior Manager, Casino Operations role leads the implementation of strategic corporate or divisional initiatives into the operations of the Casino and Community Gaming Centers (CGC). This role is responsible for overseeing revenue and profit strategies across all sites while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the gaming industry. This position leads and mentors Regional Casino Operations Managers, driving the performance and growth of casinos and CGC’s. The Sr. Manager fosters strong, proactive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with BCLC’s objectives. Success in this role requires effective communication at all levels, with an emphasis on clear, professional interactions with team members, stakeholders and senior leadership. 

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • As a member of the Operations leadership team, provides support for developing strategy and direction for the division, in alignment with the Corporate Strategy.
  • Establish objectives and KPIs that align to corporate and divisional strategy.
  • Consistently demonstrates leadership to the organization and ensures that internal relationships are built and maintained with all divisions to ensure corporate needs are identified and met.
  • Develop strong relationships with Service Providers and BCLC field staff by being in field and visiting every facility on a regular basis (or at min. annually)
  • Provides exemplary people leadership and strategic direction to the department by championing BCLC’s vision, mission and values.  Models leadership behaviors that support the engagement of staff, and drives culture and change management initiatives.  
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across lottery, casino, Playnow and sponsorship teams to create a cohesive approach on developing the omni channel strategy.
  • Ensures the resolution of all Casino and CGC related issues with all management by resolving critical, highly sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Delivers in-field coaching and development of Regional Managers with a focus on operational best practices.
  • Supports Regional Managers by overseeing the strategy, development, and implementation of site business plans.
  • Manages changes and ensures that the BCLC Standards are applied and aligned to the business needs of the new Operating Service Agreement. Provides support and education to the Service Partners.
  • Monitors revenue and expense budgets for all Casino sites and analyzes and reports any variance to revenue and expense budgets with appropriate explanation and/or revised plan of action. 
  • Responsible for the career development and inspiring personal growth of employees.
  • Participates in the development, preparation and execution of the budget process including all operating and capital budgets for the fiscal year.  Works collaboratively to set and achieve revenue and net income targets.
  • Fosters strong, productive and positive relationships with key cross-departmental stakeholders within BCLC, Service Partner senior management as well as external stakeholders including the public/players, vendor/suppliers, and regulatory and government bodies.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience

  • University degree in Business or a related discipline; 
  • 7-8 years of relevant experience in the gaming industry, including a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a managerial capacity;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Technical Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of Casino operations, in particular, table games and slots;
  • Exceptional people management and relationship-building skills with senior-level stakeholders both internal and external to a complex organization; 
  • Strong business acumen with a results-oriented focus.  Demonstrated experience in business planning in a leadership capacity;
  • Strong team building and leadership skills, and proven ability to motivate, coach and develop.
  • Excellent strategic thinking skills; an ability to find innovative yet practical strategies to achieve goals and to link several strategies into a unified, future-focused plan;
  • Highly self-motivated; assumes personal ownership and accountability;
  • Holistic approach to problem solving;
  • Ability to prioritize work and resources, keeping business value at the forefront of the decision making process;
  • Solid comprehension of Gaming criteria under the Criminal Code of Canada;
  • Solid comprehension of Gaming policies, as defined by the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch.
