The Team

Joining the Social Purpose & Marketing Division (SP&M) means you’ll be working with a group of talented professionals in Social Purpose, Community & Stakeholder Engagement, Communications & Government Relations, Marketing, CRM & Loyalty, and Customer Support. As a Crown corporation that earns more than a billion dollars in annual revenue for B.C., BCLC’s commitment to giving funds back to the province is an integral part of our business, but still only one piece of the picture. 
The Marketing team is pivotal to setting the overarching strategic marketing vision, direction, and marketing objectives for the business. We are business partners to BCLC’s extensive network, including but not limited to Product, Operations, Player Health, and external partners. We’ve built a strong & supportive community within our team, and we take pride in bridging various parts of the business for alignment to help deliver the best marketing plans and outcomes for our players and partners. 

The Role

The Senior Manager, Sports & iGaming Marketing oversees the development and delivery of marketing strategies to drive business growth. This role will manage the intake, prioritization, planning and scheduling of their respective enterprise marketing activities. 

The Senior Manager, Sports & iGaming Marketing leads and influences through change while effectively building, developing and maintaining strong working relationships with a wide variety of internal stakeholders as well as external stakeholders, such as retailer and Service Providers partners, creative, content and experience agencies, media agencies, and consultants. The role works collaboratively with other marketing leadership to ensure that Enterprise Marketing is effectively delivering against plan while working with a holistic approach to deliver on business objectives. 

The Senior Manager, Sports & iGaming Marketing is accountable for the strategic marketing planning and oversees marketing delivery for all sports marketing initially, with iGaming coming 6 to 12 months down the line. This role encompasses support for the PlayNow, PlayNow Sports, Proline and Proline Sportsbook brands, along with accountability for activating against our sports sponsorships with the Vancouver Canucks, Abbotsford Canucks and BC Lions.

What you will accomplish

  • Develop and implement the overall sports and iGaming marketing strategy in alignment with overall business goals
  • Oversee the marketing strategy for sponsorships and related events and work closely with leadership and the stakeholder engagement team to bring BCLC’s investment to market
  • Review marketing landscape, trends, competition and identify systemic challenges in the current state to inform solutions that will support the most effective marketing delivery model for the business
  • Foster strong, productive and positive relationships with cross functional stakeholders to build an understanding of customer information, industry trends and environmental impacts from a marketing perspective and ensure the marketing strategy and plans are aligned to deliver on BCLC’s strategic priorities
  • Oversee the marketing budget for your line of business, work collaboratively with marketing leadership to allocate budget appropriately to deliver on business plans and adjust as needed throughout the team. Develop business case investments for new initiatives and make high risk financial decisions. Report regularly on spending to plan, performance and overall financial results
  • Lead a team of management and professionals to deliver on marketing initiatives involving traditional and digital media, brand and advertising, content, experience marketing and promotions.
  • Provide strong people leadership to a team of marketing professionals, and champion BCLC's vision, mission and Values in Action. 

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related discipline
  • 7 to 8 years of related experience, specifically including recent experience in the planning and development of large marketing campaigns
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing people
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
  • Experience building and leading large scale marketing strategies
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple high priority projects at once

It would be awesome if you also had

  • Experience in the gaming industry
  • Experience in sports, iGaming, or ecommerce marketing
