Job Summary

The Senior Privacy Analyst performs activities related to the ongoing development and maintenance of BCLC’s privacy program. This role provides internal consulting so that BCLC complies with legislative requirements and carries out principles and best practices in privacy and data security.  The Senior Privacy Analyst contributes to building and maintaining BCLC’s privacy reputation, analyzes, advises on and resolves complex privacy issues, conducts privacy risk assessments, and supports privacy incident response. 


Key Accountabilities

  • Has a shared responsibility in building and maintaining an excellent relationship with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC).  Liaises with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner, as required. 
  • Facilitates the personal information management life cycle, including advising business units on privacy design and determining privacy requirements for vendors and service providers.  
  • Takes a lead role in working collaboratively with business units and project teams to complete privacy risk assessments in a timely manner.
  • Takes a lead role in developing and maintaining privacy program elements in compliance with legislation.
  • Works collaboratively with information security and information technology teams on technical requirements related to privacy.
  • Performs ad hoc privacy assignments. Proactively develops and maintains consultative relationships with all BCLC divisions.
  • Develops privacy policies, procedures, and training and awareness materials.
  • Provides advisory services and training to employees and service providers through interpretation of policies, requirements and legislation.
  • Provides status reporting and privacy compliance monitoring as required.
  • Maintains awareness of emerging trends and changes in the privacy field and continuously contributes to improving personal information management at BCLC.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Degree or diploma in a related discipline supplemented by industry-recognized professional courses;
  • Certified information privacy professional or information security or certified auditor credentials are desirable;
  • 5 to 7 years recent, directly related experience;
  • Background in information security or information technology is desirable;
  • A legal or compliance background is an asset;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Technical Skills

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills;
  • Excellent research and writing skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to research and interpret legislation, case law, and regulations;
  • Ability to execute on multiple assignments and priorities, while maintaining composure under pressure;
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and to work collaboratively with individuals and teams;
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills;
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment;
  • Believes in continuous improvement and driven to question and improve processes, systems and practices as appropriate;
  • Strong ability to maintain confidentiality; possesses diplomacy and tact;
  • Solid knowledge of MS Office Suite.
