Job Summary:
The Strategic Development Specialist provides program and project coordination support to the Strategic Development Team. This role will utilize specialized product, business development and account management knowledge to support complex initiatives, making recommendations on strategies, plans and process improvements.
Key Accountabilities:
- Supports BCLC’s Strategic Development team in conducting complex and specialized initiatives that drive revenue generation, return on investment and growth for the Lottery Business Unit (LBU). Contributes observations and recommendations to the team on plans, prioritization, product development and strategies that support the streamlining of processes and business practices that can be utilized to grow our partnerships and sales initiatives.
- Maintains knowledge of initiatives in the Strategic Development portfolio, and supports the team in modernizing Key Account intelligence profiles within SalesForce (or alternate support applications).
- Provides project coordination support to the team including head office communications, scheduling and implementation, wiring and product documentation, purchase requisition processing and organizing regular meetings.
- Liaises with all levels of management and staff (internal and external), promoting teamwork to address day-to-day operational needs and address concerns as they arise.
- Supports the operational needs of lottery infrastructure and key accounts that are both low risk and low maintenance, including attending strategic client meetings with our retail partners and vendors to make presentations, or support or resolve issues.
- Coordinates partner and vendor programs (provincially, nationally and with other jurisdictions), maintaining high retailer and vendor satisfaction ratings.
- Updates standardized KPI documentation for business review templates and quarterly meetings. Builds and maintains base templates for project initiatives, updates all programming calendars and develops action plans.
- Champions teamwork, provides guidance, communicates function/department goals in the context of corporate objectives, ensures focus on results, intervenes to deal with issues, oversees stakeholder relationships and supports the BCLC vision, mission and values.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
- A degree in Sales, Marketing or Business Administration or equivalent key account experience in the retail landscape.
- 3-5 years relevant related experience, with leadership and/or informal leadership experience considered an asset;
- Understanding of lottery gaming, entertainment trends and regulated industries considered an asset;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Technical Requirements
- Solid knowledge of business development opportunities for the retail network;
- Solid knowledge of industry merchandising and distribution practices, methodologies and tools;
- Strong customer focus;
- Exceptional time management and multi-tasking skills;
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills;
- Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking/innovation skills;
- Strong computer skills – MS office suite, SalesForce, (SAP or alternate ERP experience an additional asset);
- Excellent skills in Presentation Software to be able to present to external stakeholders;
- Solid understanding of lottery gaming, retail and entertainment trends both within BCLC and other jurisdictions;
- Solid comprehension of Gaming criteria under the Criminal Code of Canada preferred;
