Job Summary:
The User Interface (UI) designer is responsible for presenting BCLC's product interfaces in a way that is attractive, convenient, and consistent for users. This includes creating wireframes, storyboards, high fidelity mock-ups, and graphic assets for a variety of enterprise products and services. Working with UX Designers, Marketing, Product Managers and Developers, the UI designer will be responsible for delivering polished, pixel perfect designs that bring clarity and unity to the visual appearance of BCLC’s products.

 

Key Accountabilities:
•    Translates UX and product requirements into appealing and functional visual designs.
•    Leads all elements of visual and interaction design to ensure a consistent brand experience across BCLC’s products and services. 
•    Applies end-to-end iterative visual design process, including responsive design best practices, creating and following working design systems, and integrating brand standards.
•    Develops new and engaging visual design solutions by leveraging current industry trends, using mood boards and other creative deliverables to convey design ideas and direction. 
•    Owns and maintains style guide and design systems as used across the business and the UX Team.
•    Creates robust design packages that seamlessly transfer to developers.
•    Works closely with development teams to ensure designs are properly tested and implemented.
•    Establishes and promotes design guidelines, best practices and standards.
•    Proactively develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal partners while providing design and technical expertise, solutions and recommendations.
•    Presents design work to product teams and stakeholders as required, while clearly communicating rationale and vision.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience: 
•    Certification/diploma/degree in Visual Design, Graphic Arts from a recognized institution;
•    3 to 5  years professional experience with a strong preference for extensive experience in-house or agency side;
•    Experience using functional specifications, wireframes, site maps, storyboards and prototypes to create designs;
•    An up-to-date online portfolio featuring a strong range of design examples with a focus on web /interface design;
•    Experience with organizational tools such as JIRA and Confluence; 
•    Experience designing simple UI animation is an asset.

 

Technical Requirements
•    In-depth knowledge of design principles, responsive web design, user centric design processes, accessibility and usability methodologies;
•    Strong proficiency with design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe CC and Abstract;
•    Ability to quickly visualize and communicate concepts through sketching or other rapid design methods; 
•    Familiar with the abilities of frameworks and languages such as React, CSS and HTML;
•    Ability to work within established deadlines and time constraints;
•    Ability to act on own initiative, to exercise sound judgment and to prioritize tasks;
•    Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail;
•    Understanding of B.C. gaming industry is an asset.
•    Current knowledge of new technologies and current trends; 
•    An understanding of, and experience with, agile/hybrid agile work processes is an asset.
